What is Breakfast and Brew?

Breakfast and Brew is a community-driven initiative designed to connect members of the local startup community over a sustainable breakfast. Our goal is to cultivate robust relationships and promote collaborative ventures within the startup ecosystem through thoughtfully curated activities and genuine conversations.

Why is it important that tech startups collaborate?

Networking amongst tech startups holds significant value as it enables resource sharing necessary for effectively addressing complex issues. What is Co-Lab?

Co-Lab is a one-stop food testing solution that aims to make food testing and related services affordable, accessible and apprehensible. According to their website, they guide businesses on the relevant tests that cater to the industry safety requirements through their knowledge in the food space. Their optimisation process takes into account factors such as cost, speed, quality, and the selection of specific method references or experimental procedures. Some of their tests include nutrition and shelf-life testing that results in nutritional labels and expiry dates which are required before releasing products to the market.

Who is Jayjay Ong?

Jayjay Ong is the founder of Co-Lab. Hailing from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Bioengineering, he has experience in the food science industry through internships at various companies. Co-Lab definitely elevates his hopes in advancing science through technology to the next level, and into the tech startup industry.

What is cycleye?

cycleye is a system built for cyclists to ensure safety and accessibility for everyone. Their bicycle-mounted tech uses advanced computer sensors to detect potential obstacles and even track your paths in real-time. cycleye uses audio and visual cues to help cyclists avoid collisions while staying on track, to give users a peace of mind on their journey. According to their site, this system can be mounted on any type of bicycles. The team at cycleye are committed to pushing the boundaries of cycling technology. Their vision is to make autonomous bicycles a reality through the intuitive systems of artificial intelligence (AI).

Who is Jin Ming Lau?

Jin Ming Lau is the founder and chief technology officer (CTO) of cycleye. He has experience in entrepreneurship within various industries utilising his skills in full-stack engineering, robotics, programming, and media production. Jin Ming Lau is also an advocate for sustainability, automation, and technology with a goal to leverage technology to make a positive impact wherever he goes.

What is FireJet?

FireJet is a Figma plugin to convert designs done in Figma into developer-friendly code. This works by turning the design created in Figma into a code that can be used in web development frameworks. By automating this, Figma designers can place more emphasis on their digital creations which can be exported into functional websites and apps. This tool supports HTML outputs, export styles as CSS, import existing styles from Tailwind CSS configuration files and provides automatic optimising of designs for code conversion.

Who is Stephen Alvin?

Stephen Alvin is the co-founder of FireJet. With a Bachelor in Engineering from Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), he aims to bridge the gap between design and development through FireJet. Stephen has also co-founded other initiatives and has experience in research and development product testing and firmware maintenance. Interestingly, he has also designed and created content for coding courses, and conducted Python programming classes for young students.

What is Sotravel?

Sotravel is a social travel platform that fosters socialising through adventure. The company organises group travel to various activities within Singapore and abroad such as skiing, diving, camping, and even ascending to Mount Everest base camp! This is almost like a super updated version of the classic travel tour groups, with the added social factor and less of the boring long bus rides to visit touristy spots. Through the site, users can also view and chat with the group members to know the demographics and how many people will be going prior to the trip. Packages typically include essentials such as accommodation, meals, equipment, passes, and lessons. It is almost all-inclusive, as flights and travel insurance are not included.

Who is Larry Lee?

Larry Lee is the founder of Sotravel. With an extensive background in software engineering, Larry founded the social travel platform after gaining inspiration from having travelled during an exchange to Copenhagen and a ski trip to the French alps with other students. With the decline of social events after graduating, along with the Covid-19 restrictions, he realised the importance of these experiences, and hence, Sotravel was born.

What is Ventur-io?

Ventur-io is a tech talent connector from Singapore to the United States (US). The company helps US startups and venture capitalists (VC) to tech talent from Singapore. According to their site, they provide connections to the top SIngaporean universities such as NUS and NTU. Their services include the sourcing of tech talent for US companies looking for interns, attachments and full-time hires. They also have lawyers to assist with the various types of US visa applications.

Who is Sze Ying Teo?

Sze Ying Teo is the global talent partner from Ventur-io. She has vast experiences in managerial positions at various companies and according to her profile, she believes in connecting individuals above and beyond the professional landscape. Through her work, she has always been in the business of people and growth, and thrives at where they come together.

What is Veri?

Veri is a NFC-based solution and digital asset integration for luxury verification and assurance.

Who is Yong Ming Yang?

Yong Ming Yang is the founder of Veri. Hailing from National University of Singapore (NUS) Computing, Computer Science, he is a software engineer with a passion for Web3.

What is vibefam?

vibefam is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform built for boutique fitness brands. They provide software to various boutique fitness companies that want to scale their business. As a company, their mission is to empower fitness entrepreneurs with the ideal solution for scaling and expanding their fitness communities. vibefam assists them in growing their businesses and communities without the hassle of the laborious administrative tasks, and they have successfully cultivated a substantial user base across regions such as Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Vietnam.

Who is Diane Loh?

Diane Loh is the co-founder of vibefam. With a background in computer science, she also oversees the web administrative development and the security of vibefam as their CTO. During her time at NUS, she has also received the university’s merit scholarship for her academic results, co-curricular records and outstanding leadership qualities.

What is Zenith Learning Group?

Zenith Learning Group is a local education company, currently expanding into educational technology, also known as edtech, to promote equal access to education. Founded in 2019 to help Junior College education students, they now have various branches across Singapore. Their mission is to provide a comprehensive, world-class education. Notably, Zenith aims to combine their pedagogical expertise with technology to further empower their students such as gamified online learning platforms.

Who is Evan Heng?

Evan Heng is the founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Zenith Learning Group. He has been the teacher, CEO and director at his education company, which speaks to how well he knows his company and its inner workings. As a person, Evan enjoys practising mixed martial arts and watching musicals and theatre outside of work. He is also interested in important social issues, typically those related to the environment and income inequality.

What is NUS Entrepreneurship Society?

NUS Entrepreneurship Society is NUS’ tertiary entrepreneurship organisation. This society fosters entrepreneurship within the university and equips each generation of entrepreneurs with necessary skills and knowledge. They collaborate with students, industry experts, and a network of startup ecosystem partners to actively promote entrepreneurship and drive innovation. They have organised several events such as UNICON and Ground Zero.

Who is Felix Ling?

Felix Ling is the president at NUS Entrepreneurship Society. He has an impressive education record at both Raffles Institution (RI) and NUS. At RI, he had a perfect score for the A Levels, proceeded to achieve First Class Honours (Highest Distinction) along with the merit scholarship at NUS for his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Felix is also part of NUS College, the premier multidisciplinary honours college where he learns topics ranging from sociology, psychology, literature, history, economics, and philosophy.

Who is Lee Yan Chung?

Lee Yan Chung is the vice-president of the NUS Entrepreneurship Society. He has a Diploma with Merit in Financial Informatics, Information Technology and is currently a business school undergraduate currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration. Lee Yan Chung was part of several internships that demonstrated his experience in business development. The track record of both presidents of the NUS Entrepreneurship Society are definitely impressive, and destined for remarkable achievements in the days to come.

Who is Hussein Sulaiman?

Hussein Sulaiman is the programme head of NUS Enterprise’s BLOCK71 Indonesia & Vietnam, which enables startups to scale across borders. He has been working within many startups, in the areas of business model development, expansion, and operations management. He is an early member of several renowned brands in the region such as BeMyGuest, Lazada, and Zilingo. Hussein has played a pivotal role in shaping and overseeing their operational growth and management from their inception.

Breakfast and Brew is a community initiative by the moonbeam co. that aims to connect stakeholders from the startup community by way of a sustainable breakfast. Through carefully planned activities and authentic conversations, we aim to foster strong connections and collaborations within the startup ecosystem.

Why is it important that sustainable startups collaborate?

Collaboration amongst sustainable startups is valuable as they can pool resources and expertise to tackle complex sustainability challenges effectively. By sharing their technology and practices, startups can then speed up their development processes to achieve greater impact by combining their resources to reach larger markets. Who is Tan Shi En?

Tan Shi En is the CEO and co-founder of EzGreen. Coming from the food and beverage (F&B) industry, he brings innovative ideas that incorporate tech, social and sustainability factors into the projects he works on. Tan Shi En is also the co-founder of Our Food Chapter and Ezcompostr, which speaks volumes to the type of work he does that helps the community and the environment.

What is Flint?

Flint is a startup by young and passionate individuals that explores the development of sustainable lifestyle technologies that seamlessly integrates into everyday life. Their aim is to promote eco-friendly choices without the compromise of convenience or style. They are known for their paper batteries that were featured in the media, which harness renewable energy sources and transform them into clean, efficient power. What stands them apart is their modular approach to the typical portable charger called Flint Charge. Through their modular snap design, you can charge mobile devices wirelessly and even easily provide an auxiliary battery bank for a friend.

Who is Carlo Charles?

Carlo Charles is the co-founder of Flint. Currently at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) majoring in Mechatronics Engineering, he combines design, tech and sustainability together to make a positive impact on the community. He has pitched his design to the likes of our local National Youth Council Singapore which has attained positive responses, and achieved grants to further his sustainability technology.

What is Pawfoo?

Pawfoo is a startup that creates nutritious and tasty pet treats made with surplus ingredients rescued from food manufacturers! Their snack ingredients, which are sustainably sourced and have a direct influence on decreasing carbon emissions, are carefully curated and do not contain any additives and preservatives for the wellbeing of pets. These health-conscious and eco-conscious pet treats that are upcycled and validated by veterinarians are constantly being updated with new recipes and are available for delivery online too.

Who is Chelsia Goh?

Chelsia Goh is the CEO and co-founder of Pawfoo. Hailing from National University of Singapore (NUS), she also has extensive understanding in several organisations. Her varied skills in operations, facilitating and marketing are just some of her repertoire of experiences. She aims to fuse her passion for the arts, humanities and sciences through her entrepreneurial pursuits one day.

What is Ferticlay?

Ferticlay is an interesting startup that creates alternative fertilising clay from rescued food and manufacturing industries’ mid-stream waste materials, such as coffee grounds, eggshells and paper waste. These nutrient-rich materials are turned into a clay that can be applied in the green material and construction space to replace existing toxic materials that in addition, give back to the earth at the end of its life cycle. They also organise creative workshops that explore the possibilities of their Ferticlay and other types of secondary waste for an inclusive experience. Additionally, they hire and work with marginalised persons such as persons with disabilities and single mothers who seek valuable jobs that serve a good cause.

Who is Jodie Monteiro?

Jodie Monteiro is the CEO and co-founder of Ferticlay. She is a creative entrepreneur with a passion for sustainability and design. With a diverse background in retail merchandising and being an instructor for various creative design studios, she has gathered the skills and knowledge required that seem to organically culminate in her company, Ferticlay. She has also worked with the likes of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) as a community engagement assistant.

Who is Kok Chung Ong?

Kok Chung Ong is COO and the other co-founder of Ferticlay. He has a comprehensive background in product managing, financial analytics, business building, and many more. He has his own set of personal ideals in the form of 5Ds: Deals, Data, Disrupt, Democratise and Due Diligence that form his professional outlook of the many projects he has undertaken.

What is PlasticEVO?

PlasticEVO is a startup that recycles plastic through implementing 3D printing. Besides providing environmentally-friendly products and corporate gifts, they also facilitate workshops in local educational institutions to instil environmental sustainability habits among youths. Through plastic recycling drives across Singapore, they hope to equip the community with plastic recycling habits and knowledge. Their 3D printed products that they promote includes practical household items that are decorative and utilitarian. 

Who is Edric Ong?

Edric Ong is also the co-founder of PlasticEVO. He is an aspiring engineer with an open-mind to acquire more knowledge, as seen through his experience in the vast field of engineering through his education and professional positions. An environmental advocate, he hopes to be a research engineer that contributes to society in a meaningful way, such as his work in PlasticEVO.

MarinaChain is a startup focusing on maritime decarbonisation. Their goal is to simplify the process of reporting emissions from various companies. Who is Sean Lew?

Sean Lew is the chief product officer at MarinaChain. He is a mechanical engineer based in the world of product management and Web 3. Having graduated from National University of Singapore (NUS) Mechanical Engineering, robotics specialisation; Sean brings his skills over to business development within the entrepreneurship circle.

What is Protégé Ventures?

Protégé Ventures is Southeast Asia’s first and Singapore’s only student-run venture fund to help young student entrepreneurs. Their modus operandi, “for students, managed by students” speaks volumes to their mission to empower student founders and groom the next generation of venture capital leaders within the industry.

Who is Yu Qi Tan?

Yu Qi Tan is an analyst within Protégé Ventures. He scouts and analyses various startups to invest in, in hopes to empower student founders to scale their businesses to the next level. Hailing from NUS Computer Science, Yu Qi is well-versed in software development and even taking time to impart this skill to others through tutoring within NUS and other academies.

What is Write Brothers?

Write Brothers uses handwritten solutions to increase a businesses' personal touch to improve brand loyalty. Write Brothers uses automation machinery to handwrite cards in the hundreds and thousands. Their product ranges from detailed calligraphy fonts, card designs, personalised handwritten messages all down to envelopes. As a compelling brand narrative, there are names attributed to their specialised machines. Wilbur is their hardworking robot that physically produces the handwritten letters. Orville is their software that transmits to Wilbur what to write. What is special is that Orville uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to learn, recreate and randomise actual handwriting. This results in Wilbur writing letters that are completely dissimilar and unique!

Who is Lim Hng Yi?

Lim Hng Yi is the CEO, co-founder and lead software engineer of Write Brothers. With a background in Computer Science and Design from Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), he has worked in many companies with his expertise. One of his appointments include developing web applications with HTX, an automated sign language recognition and transcription for communication with the deaf. Hng Yi is currently at BlockTech B.V., an algorithmic cryptocurrency trading company where he develops codes.

What is Meydou?

Meydou is a Business-to-Business (B2B) software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution designed specifically for the food and beverage (F&B) industry. Their core belief is that every F&B business deserves a fair chance in the playing field, and they aim to empower them by digitising their operational workflows and delivering valuable data insights.

Who is Denzel Goh?

Denzel Goh is the co-founder of Meydou. He has a comprehensive background in the entrepreneurship space in business development. He is currently also in the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) entrepreneurship program at Picus Capital, driving venture capital scouting and sales lead generation initiatives for deep tech startups. His network is extensive and even more so with Breakfast and Brew, promoting collaboration between student entrepreneurs.

What is MatcHub?

MatcHub is a unique AI-powered platform that matches specific talents with companies based on their career aspirations, personality and work approach. Through this, the recruitment process becomes significantly more efficient and equitable. MatcHub aims to match students to suitable jobs that they would love and truly believes that every individual should discover their passion and pursue their dreams. Due to the nature of AI and the company’s values, MatcHub differentiates individuals through skills, personalities and experiences, ensuring that all students are treated equally regardless of race, gender, and religion.

Who is Rayse Yeo?

Rayse Yeo is the co-founder of MatcHub. Not only has she graduated from NUS with a double degree in Business Administrative (First Class Honours) and Economics, she has studied four years of university education in four different countries! Interestingly, Rayse believes personality is a key factor in determining a candidate’s suitability for any job. She is an energetic, passionate and outgoing individual with a strong interest in business development, sales and customer relationship management.

What is I’m Friendly Co?

I’m Friendly Co is an anonymous platform where any youth or young adult can turn to and find emotional support, a listening ear, a friend in time of need. A principled platform where individuals can be raw and vulnerable with their emotions through a conversation. A unique aspect of I’m Friendly Co is the relatability of conversations as it is by Singaporean youths for Singaporean youths, legitimised with psychologists and counsellors as advisors. With easy access to the site, the judgement-free platform is backed by a community of trained listeners who genuinely care.

Who is Jedaiah Chen?

Jedaiah Chen is the CEO and founder of I’m Friendly Co. Fuelled by a burning desire to change the youth mental health landscape, Jedaiah and his team set out to create a world where those hurt are heard. A creative soul with a heart for people, he makes a difference through his innovative idea, one meaningful life at a time.
